Last week we revealed the cover for The One Ring – The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying Game by Johan Grenier. Along with the hugely positive reception, a number of canny fans spotted that there seemed to be more to the scene that we couldn’t see. This week we’re happy to show off the full piece in all its glory.
The cover scene is titled “The Coming of Boldog” and depicts Gandalf along with our iconic party — a Hobbit of the Shire, a Beorning, a Dwarf of the Lonely Mountain, an Elf of Mirkwood, a Rider of Rohan, and a Man of Minas Tirith — fleeing from a horde of orcs and a terrifying cave troll. “The Coming of Boldog” will be a free adventure that will be released alongside the core rules so that you and your Company can begin your adventures straight away.
Previously we shared artwork for two of the cultures shown on the cover — the Hobbit of the Shire and Man of Minas Tirith — so we thought we’d share the rest of the Company.
‘Beorn indeed became a great chief afterwards in those regions and ruled a wide land between the mountains and the wood…’
‘There now Dáin son of Náin took up his abode, and he became King under the Mountain, and in time many other Dwarves gathered to his throne in the ancient halls.’
‘In a great hall with pillars hewn out of the living stone sat the Elvenking on a chair of carven wood.’
‘Where now is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?’
