#AMEday – Bree-land

#AnyDayCanBeAMEday.. right?

It’s Jacob once again, and today we’re going to look at the award-winning Bree-land Region Guide for Adventures in Middle-earth™. In addition to detailed descriptions of Bree-land and its four villages, their history, and complete plans of The Prancing Pony, the guide also contains a trio of adventures written by the legendary Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan.

Bree is a study in contrasts. The idea of an epic adventure beginning with a chance (if chance you call it) meeting in an inn is an old one, and can probably be traced back to The Prancing Pony in the village of Bree. Here the Dúnedain can meet with Dwarves, Hobbits and Men in the common room of the inn and discuss the ancient dangers that lie within a day’s march away. But it is also a place where the Innkeeper will ask you to bring no trouble to his establishment and where the locals will scoff at such outlandish talk.

The balance between the provincial folk of Bree and the dangers which they are ceaselessly guarded from is a delicate one and can be an exciting source of tension for a group of heroes who don’t mind a lack of appreciation for their efforts. Other, more mercenary, folk might appreciate that there’s a full set of costs for various items and services at The Pony and plenty of hooks for further adventures in the area.

The Bree-land is a bit smaller region than we cover in some of our other guides, so this particular publication comes value-packed with a set of three adventures as well. Starting at Level 1, they’re a great introduction to Middle-earth if you want to start your heroes in Eriador. Advice is also provided on transitioning from these starter adventures into the larger (and deadlier!) Eriador Adventures.

The Bree-land Region Guide for Adventures in Middle-earth contains all of the above and a full set of Journey Event tables and a set of adversaries suitable for the Bree-land. Find out more or purchase directly here. You can also find this title in all good game stores!
